Several tributaries of the Mekong originate in the Xieng Khouang region. Most tourists travel to the region to visit the world famous Plain of Jars sites, which contain huge stone jars dating back to 1500-2000 years ago.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1 –Vientiane Arrival
In the morning, you arrive in Vientiane and transfer to hotel. Embark on a visit to the city’s major historic sites and landmarks including Wat Sisaket with its thousands of miniature Buddha statues, Wat Prakeo (which once enshrined Emerald Buddha now in Bangkok), Wat Simuang, That Luang, the Patousai Monument. Overnight at hotel in Vientiane .

Day 2 - Vientiane – Xieng Khouang
In the morning, departure to Xieng Khouang. Upon arrival in Xiengkhoang where is located in the highlands in Northeastern Laos (around 1,200m above sea level), you meet with your guide and transfer (15-minute ride) to your hotel for check-in. After short refreshment, lunch on your own en route, we drive around 10km to the Plain of Jars, the archaeological spectacle of giant stone Jars, which date back at least 2000 years. It is such a mystery, the Plain of Jars, a plateau 50km wide scattered with over 300 stone jars. The 2,000 year-old jars range in size from 1 to 2.5 meters height, and are thought to have been used as funeral urns. Embark on 1.5 hour drive to a district of Muang Kham, 51km from Xiengkhoang. Stop on the way to visit different villages of hill tribes such as Tai Dam, Hmong, probably the best-known minority group in Laos. Overnight at hotel in Xieng Khouang.

Day 3 – Xieng Khouang – Departure
Visit Phonesavanh market then transfer to the airport for flight to Vientiane for connecting departure flight.
